Christmastime at Home with B&Co. : A Warmhearted Recap

It’s pretty obvious and befitting to say I ADORE CHRISTMAS. The hope for snow, giving gifts (I admittedly collect all year long), wrapping presents, the tunes (listening well before Thanksgiving), dangling lights, cooking supper for the whole fam, the fleeting, chilly days – it just gives me the good ol’ warm and fuzzy.

C’mon, I have a snow falling plug-in on this blog (a fabulous find indeed!).

2013 marked the first Christmas in our new home, a beautiful 1934 craftsman bungalow. There’s a certain indescribable feeling attached to that. The heart of the home, the whole family over, cooking holiday suppers from scratch – it’s a sheer delight to watch your family start to grow.

The merry season commenced with craftiness assembling a tufty garland above our fireplace and dining room chandelier with foraged finds from our backyard and all throughout New Haven (at 7:30 a.m. no less). Soon thereafter, Chris and I chopped down our first live tree together – a balsam fir – and small beginnings of Christmastime staples started to arrive – bronzed stocking holders and embroidered white sherpa stockings – to grace our fresh walls. Our medallion-kissed, kraft and twine packages finished the look with clippings of remnant evergreens. A homemade chocolate chip and pecan cookies surplus run rampant and Santa (ahem, Christopher) was one happy, satiated camper. And, of course, Marla (one of two crazy cats) who enjoyed sitting under the tree so much we turned her into a present.

It’s the little details that make a house a home, and putting it all together puts me in a reverie.

Happy New Year to you and yours.
xoxo,
Jessica
