On the morning of October 19, 2013, the walls of Hidden Valley Bed & Breakfast in Washington Depot, Ct. were alive. The grand Dutch Colonial overlooked the valley’s vibrant gradation of reds, oranges and yellows – the scene setter for this quintessential Fall wedding. Jay and his gentlemen donned navy Brooks Brothers suits while Shannon and her lovely ladies fashioned themselves – out of sight – on the manor’s main level. The finishing touch, a the custom-tailored Amy Kuschel wedding dress she’s dreamed about wearing for months now. It was time to embark St. Theresa Avila.
Just a mile down the road from the church, the celebration carried on outdoors at The Country Loft in Woodbury. Brightly-colored floral design and decor mimicked the colors of autumn. The newly wedded couple spent quiet moments together, their first as man and wife, while those nearest and dearest began the evening with hor d’oeuvres and fizzy libations among the Country Loft’s undulating landscape. As the intimate gathering made it way into the softly lit reception, the attendees were greeted with personal touches, details handcrafted by the bride and groom themselves. The newlyweds toasted to the night, family, friends and the start of their life together with old-fashioned Bride & Groom champagne glasses, heirlooms from the mother & father of the bride. What I like to call, simply plum and trinket.
Jay & Shannon: it’s an amazing thing the universe brought us together because I sincerely love you both to pieces. Your spirit, your whimsy, your kindness and thoughtfulness for others emanates in all you do and deliver. The pleasure was all mine. I’m absolutley looking forward to the day we meet again here in New Haven (you gotta see the new digs!!) or in Boston for a drink (or two) and catch up on all the good things to come.
